Legislative Notice: Missouri Clean Water Commission


Senate Bill 937, Senate Amendment #1 to House Bill 1713 — from the Missouri Stream Team Watershed Coalition

Senate Amendment 1 was added to legislation SCS/HCS/Missouri House Bill 1713 authored by Missouri State Senator Brian Munzlinger that would change the composition of the Clean Water Commission. The language has also been added to Missouri Senate Bill 937. The Clean Water Commission is the governing body that makes decisions on regulations concerning Missouri's Waterways. The commission is appointed by the Governor with the advice and consent of the Senate. No more than four of the members shall belong to same political party. Amendment 1 and SB 937 could allow the elimination of the public's voice on the Clean Water Commission. Please consider contacting your representatives now to voice your opinion on this issue.   • 2 members representing agriculture, industry, or mining

  • 1 member representing waste water

  • 4 members representing the public

Proposed Amendment 1 Commission make up:

  • Minimum of 2 members representing agriculture, industry, or mining

  • 1 member representing waste water

  • No more than 4 members representing the public

Amendment 1 could allow the elimination of the public's voice. The Clean Water Commission could be composed of:

  • 6 members representing agriculture, industry, or mining

  • 1 member representing waste water

  • 0 members representing the public
