On July 22, HCA hosted a kickoff meeting for a Community Advisory Board to begin re-imagining future use for 20 acres of unused land in Palestine East Neighborhood. The 11 Board members will be meeting monthly with support and guidance by a technical advisory team led by Heartland Conservation Alliance with funding from EPA's Environmental Justice program.

On July 27 HCA, Center for Neighborhoods, MARC and Heart of the City Neighborhood led a public listening session to find ways to address illegal dumping in Kansas City. The event is the first of two virtual events to collect observations and concerns of residents and community leaders about the barriers and challenges they face regarding illegal dumping. The second listening session will be Wednesday, August 25.
