
On Tuesday, October 12 HCA, Wichita State University presented the Water Equity Roadmap at a virtual event. The event featured speakers Mark L. McHenry, Commissioner, Missouri Department of Conservation, Jeff Fisher, Director of Public Works, Unified Government, and Jason Williams, Program Officer, Health Forward Foundation. The Water Equity Roadmap was developed following the listening sessions held in April and June. It will be used by organizations working to remove barriers and increase access to clean and healthy water.
On August 25, HCA, MARC, Center for Neighborhoods and Heart of the City Neighborhoods co-hosted a community roundtable discussion on how to reduce illegal dumping in the Kansas City region. As a result of the community roundtable sessions, four working groups were created to build a strategy for eliminating dumping in our region. The committees (Data, Infrastructure, Education and Enforcement) will reconvene in November to outline the strategic plan.
On Tuesday, October 5, HCA held our 8th Annual Partnership Summit. The yearly event celebrated the hard work of our partners with music, food from The Taste of Brazil and Touring Taps. The Summit featured The Blue River Story Project, which highlighted the partners’ experiences and memories on the Blue River. You can read the stories on the HCA blog and the Renew the Blue website.
The next Partnership Work Group meeting will tentatively be 10/13/21 at 6pm.
The next Steering Council Meeting will take place virtually on Monday, 10/18/21 at 11 am.
The next Urban Waters meeting will be held virtually on Wednesday, 11/17/21 at 1 pm.
