"Hope is the thing with feathers that perches in the soul – and sings the tunes without the words – and never stops at all." -- Emily Dickinson
Gratitude and Inspiration
What an incredible year we have shared! Working together, we are protecting places we love. Thank you so much for your hard work and support to restore beautiful places, to protect nature, and to help revive our communities by connecting them with wild places.
Thank you for celebrating these accomplishments at our Second Annual Partnership Summit on November 3 (along with the 800,000 who came downtown to celebrate the Royals!) Our theme for the Summit and for the upcoming year is, "Inspiring the Next Generation of Urban Conservationists."
We believe that hope lies in our young and upcoming conservationists. Their innovation and their passion must be inspired and informed by the work we are doing today.
Together, we are doing good work!
We are Connecting People to Nature. This year we welcomed a new Alliance Partner, KC Public School District, and launched our new urban stewardship training program at East High School.
We are Conserving Natural Resources. This year we invited The Conservation Fund to join our Alliance Partners in the Marlborough Community Coalition, the city of Kansas City, MO, and Kansas City, MO, Water Services Department to dream and build a park along Troost where stormwater infrastructure will be installed.
We are Convening Our Community. This year we successfully added the Kansas City conservation community to be included in a US Fish & Wildlife Service project hosted by The Field Museum in Chicago, IL, to restore the monarch butterfly migration by identifying and designing habitat in urban areas. See a list of our accomplishments here and follow us on Facebook to learn more about exciting conservation efforts in our region.
Will you join us in 2016?
We have set an ambitious goal to conserve 2,000 acres of land in the metro by 2020. Will you become an Alliance partner and help us protect nature in our city? Take five minutes to declare your commitment to conservation and return your HCA Partnership Declaration by Dec. 31, 2015. Also, please consider making a contribution to help us protect the places we love, the places that define our home.
